About…

I’m a PhD dropout, a part-time college instructor, and I’m seriously under-employed.  I also drink too much wine, and stay up way too late on school nights. Since I have so much time on my hands (which explains the vices) and what feels like a lot of creative energy, I’ve decided to create a space where I can publically voice some of my more subversive, irreverent and even mundane musings.

Aside from why I’m undertaking this, I think it might be helpful to talk about my purpose. And in brief, that would be to share critical, and analytical commentary about everyday life in very playful ways. Everyday life ranges from popular culture, and news to, my personal interactions. I despise clichés, and any over simplified understandings of people and our culture, and I’m ballsy enough to admit that I think my own powers of analysis are worth sharing. And… I think that the two of you will agree.

I think that the stories we tell about everyday life can be so hilarious if we use the right narrative frame.  Using this frame is pretty easy for a college instructor. My students never fail to shock, disappoint, insult, endear and impress me. I also tend to lack a certain measure of self-control, and tact, which makes my own social interactions pretty ridiculous.

So, that’s why I’m here, and that’s what I intend to do.
